Mobari Rift dining

Dining & Menu

Mobari Rift is an independent Australian dining venue for considered plates, good conversation and a long, unhurried evening. Our coastal point of view brings seasonal Australian ingredients, bright acidity and fire-led warmth to dishes designed to travel naturally across the table.

Begin lightly, settle in, then follow the table’s pace.

Move from small plates and starters through grill dishes, shared courses, vegetables, desserts and drinks. The menu details below are illustrative and may shift with seasonal produce. Dinner can be enjoyed before, during or after a hosted poker evening; the late-night context is explained further down the page.

To begin

Small Plates

Bright, savoury bites for the centre of the table or an easy beginning to a longer meal. These dishes are made to be shared or enjoyed individually, with details that may change as the season and kitchen selection evolve.

Charred Geraldton octopus

Charred octopus arrives with smoked almond, preserved lemon, parsley and a gentle chilli oil. It is warm, smoky and lifted by citrus, a considered opening plate for a table finding its first round of conversation.

Fremantle sardine toast

Grilled sourdough is layered with sardine rillette, pickled cucumber, dill and lemon zest. Crisp, briny and bright, it sits easily beside an early drink without asking the meal to begin too quickly.

Crisp polenta with pepperleaf

Fried polenta is paired with cultured yoghurt, native pepperleaf and roasted tomato relish. The dish brings soft tang, a savoury crust and a vegetarian-friendly ingredient profile, without making assumptions about individual dietary needs.

Seasonal selection

Seasonal Starters

These are composed first courses shaped by the kitchen’s current produce selection: more settled than a snack, yet still light enough to leave room for the meal ahead. Menu details may evolve with seasonal sourcing and service.

Roasted market carrots

Roasted market carrots meet whipped macadamia, citrus, toasted seeds and herb oil. Sweetness from the roast is balanced by creaminess and a fresh, aromatic finish that keeps the plate lively.

Coral trout crudo

Coral trout crudo is dressed with finger lime, cucumber, sea herbs and a light olive oil dressing. Clean citrus and cool texture make this a quietly elegant way to begin a more composed dinner.

Wood-roasted mushrooms

Wood-roasted mushrooms sit with barley, aged cheese, burnt onion and thyme. It is an earthy, deeply savoury plate with enough texture to feel generous, while remaining distinct from the grill-led main courses.

From the grill

Australian Grill

The grill is a focused selection of fire-led mains, with coastal and bush ingredients used as flavour accents rather than decoration. Choose a course for yourself or let it sit alongside smaller plates and shared dishes as the table builds its own rhythm.

Coal-grilled barramundi

Coal-grilled barramundi comes with smoked mussel butter, greens and grilled lemon. The plate leans into gentle smoke, clean salinity and citrus, offering a composed main without overcomplicating the table.

Pepperberry rump cap

Pepperberry-rubbed rump cap is served with roasted shallots, jus and potato gratin. Richness, char and warming spice give this dish a slower, dinner-forward character suited to a lingering course.

Grilled pumpkin and ricotta gnudi

Grilled pumpkin is paired with ricotta gnudi, sage, hazelnut and browned butter. It offers a substantial meat-free choice, balancing sweet roast notes with soft dumplings, nutty crunch and fragrant herbs.

Current menu note

When planning a meal around an event evening, ask the team about the current menu. Dishes and service details can change, so it is helpful to confirm the shape of your visit when you enquire.

At the centre

Shared Plates

Place a generous dish at the centre of the table and order in the rhythm that suits your group. Shared plates are made for dinner groups, celebrations and relaxed evenings where conversation matters as much as the next course.

For the table

Whole roasted cauliflower

Whole roasted cauliflower is dressed with tahini, currants, herbs and toasted almonds. It is generous enough to pass around, with caramelised edges, soft centre and bright herb notes for a table that wants to share.

Coastal seafood pot

A tomato and fennel seafood pot brings together market fish, prawns, mussels and grilled bread. Built as a table-centred option, it is fragrant, savoury and especially easy to return to between conversations.

For the table

Slow-cooked lamb shoulder

Slow-cooked lamb shoulder arrives with native herb salsa verde, roasted roots and flatbread. Its slow, convivial character invites passing plates, tearing bread and letting the meal move at a comfortable pace.

Vegetable-led

Vegetarian Options

Vegetarian options are woven through the menu, and this selection brings together vegetable-led dishes of different weights and textures. If you have dietary questions, speak with the team before ordering; preparation can change as the current menu changes.

Saltbush potato dumplings

Potato dumplings are served with saltbush butter, peas, broad beans and aged cheese. Soft, savoury and green with the season, the dish brings gentle richness and a pleasing contrast of tender and fresh textures.

Eggplant from the coals

Coal-softened eggplant meets tomato, chickpeas, mint and sesame. It carries the smoky character of the grill in a lighter direction, with creamy eggplant, bright herbs and warm pulses in every spoonful.

Garden leaves and grains

Seasonal leaves, freekeh, roasted beetroot, citrus, herbs and goat’s curd make a composed, lighter plate. Earthy grains and sweet beetroot give the salad enough presence to hold its place within a full meal.

Menu conversation note

For dietary questions, please ask before ordering. Ingredients and preparation can change with the menu, and the team can discuss the current selection without promising specific modifications or allergen-safe preparation.

A slower finish

Desserts

Finish slowly with fruit, chocolate and dessert dishes shaped for lingering at the table, whether the evening is drawing to a close or simply easing into its next conversation.

Burnt honey panna cotta

Burnt honey panna cotta is served with poached pear, wattleseed crumb and toasted oats. Creamy, gently caramelised and warmly spiced, it offers a soft finish with fruit and crunch.

Dark chocolate delice

Dark chocolate delice comes with Davidson plum, cacao nib and cream. Deep cocoa and tart fruit create a darker counterpoint to the fruit-led desserts, with a smooth, restrained richness.

Citrus olive-oil cake

Citrus olive-oil cake is paired with yoghurt, macerated berries and pistachio. Bright citrus, tender crumb and gentle nuttiness make it a lightly textured close to the meal.

At the bar

Cocktails

The cocktail list is balanced around citrus, herbs, coastal salinity and classic structure, made for the table rather than spectacle. Each drink is designed to sit comfortably alongside dinner, from brighter opening plates through to a slower final course.

Rift Martini

A chilled martini with gin, dry vermouth, lemon oils and a saline lift. It is clean, aromatic and quietly precise, with citrus oils bringing brightness to its classic, bracing structure.

Wattle Spritz

A bright spritz of citrus aperitif, wattleseed, sparkling wine and soda. Fine bubbles, warm nuttiness and fresh citrus keep the drink easy at the table without becoming overly sweet.

Smoked Quandong Old Fashioned

A stirred cocktail of whisky, quandong, bitters and a light smoke aroma. Darker and slower in mood, it suits the later part of an evening when the table has settled in.

Responsible service

Alcoholic drinks are served responsibly. Guests can also explore our Zero-Proof Drinks for considered alternatives alongside dinner.

Australian wine

Australian Wine

The Australian wine selection is designed to move easily from aperitif to shared plates, grill dishes and dessert. The current list can change, so these are useful style directions rather than a fixed inventory of bottles or pours.

Fresh and mineral whites

For seafood and bright starters

Look for bright white-wine styles that sit comfortably beside seafood, citrus, herbs and lighter starters. Their lifted, clean profile can echo the cool textures and fresh acidity already present on the table.

Textured whites and lighter reds

For vegetables and sharing

Versatile white and lighter red styles can suit roasted vegetables, mushrooms and shared plates. Consider them a pairing suggestion, not a rule: the best choice is often the one that follows the table’s pace.

Deeper reds and after-dinner pours

For grill dishes and chocolate

Fuller wine directions can sit well with grilled dishes, chocolate and a slower close to the meal. These styles bring depth and warmth when the table is ready for a more settled course.

Ask the team about current bottles and by-the-glass selections when you arrive; the available list may change with service.

Full-flavoured alternatives

Zero-Proof Drinks

Zero-proof drinks are full-flavoured choices built with fruit, tea, herbs, spice and texture rather than an afterthought. They are made for any dining guest and can be enjoyed across the meal, from a first bite through to dessert.

Finger lime tonic

Finger lime, cucumber, tonic and mint over ice make a crisp, refreshing glass with cool garden notes and citrus brightness.

Smoked tea and peach cooler

Chilled smoked tea, peach, lemon and soda create a lightly aromatic, food-friendly drink with gentle fruit and lift.

Salted plum shrub

Plum shrub, citrus, rosemary and sparkling water bring tart fruit, savoury edge and herbal fragrance to the glass.

The evening can be enjoyed with or without alcohol; follow the food sections above to build a table that suits your own pace.
